I started brewing about 5 months ago from a small bottle of store bought kombucha. I keep reading that it’s good to add some store bought kombucha into the mix to boost my own from time to time.

Anyone know if this is necessary? It seems like the bacteria and yeasts would just multiply and die naturally. Mine has tasted pretty consistent throughout, but lately I feel like the pellicle doesn’t form as quickly as it did before. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
